Our fundraising dinosaurs…
One is always by our side; others collect donations at various locations.
The dinosaurs were made by the company BigBelly in Switzerland.
Initially, only a few people helped with various projects. In 2016, we had the opportunity to get to know René Hagspiel, the owner of BigBelly, and introduce him to our organization. He liked the idea of his “dinosaurs” working for us and helping to create a better future for the people of Ethiopia so much that he donated a large number of these fantastic piggy banks to us.
However, some found this dinosaur too big – and so we received a donation in the form of a donation Bajaj from Spiel ein Spiel in Nuremberg.
And so, Dinos and Donation-Bajaj are now collecting donations worldwide for various projects of ours.
Donation boxes for Hawelti e.V. are in use here and look forward to your visit. Feeding them is expressly encouraged!

An idea for schools – and not just schools: Doing a lot of good with minimal effort!
We’ve all been there: you buy drinks and pay a deposit; it’s often mentally checked off the list while you’re buying them. Eventually, you return the empties and get a little money back. For many, it’s “just a few cents” – but for us, it’s a big contribution!
With just one empty bottle (at 8 cents) we can currently provide a meal for one person in Aksum!
Example calculation for a campaign, for example with school classes:
If a child in the family receives a deposit bottle or the money from one deposit bottle (8 cents) each week and puts it into a dinosaur-themed donation box, it adds up to 32 cents per month. With 30 children in a school class, this would provide 120 meals for the people of Aksum in just one month (!!!).
We would be happy to provide a donation dinosaur for such a campaign.
Just as important:
This kind of event also provides an opportunity to talk to children about Africa and sustainability! We’ve tried it and had a very positive experience!
100% of the proceeds from this event will go directly to our projects in Ethiopia!
